About Therapeutic Massage A therapeutic massage session is an excellent way to begin and maintain your health care program. Massage is not a luxury, it is a necessity. Receiving massage regularly provides many benefits and just makes the rest of your life easier and better. Regular massage gives your body an opportunity to detox from stress, release chronic tension patterns, prevent injuries as well as help you heal faster if one does occur. We all need nurturing touch to survive, and therapeutic touch helps us to thrive. Massage therapy is a dynamic health process for body and mind. For more information about the powerful benefits of massage, what to expect from your session, how to handle health concerns, and how to decide what type of session is right for you, please see below. Benefits
Enjoy the feeling of taking time for yourself and responsibility for your physical and mental wellbeing.
The goal of massage therapy is to reduce stress and to help maintain a healthy body and mind, so we feel that it is of the utmost importance that you feel completely comfortable during your session. Take Time Center is dedicated to making you feel relaxed, taken care of, and at peace during your stay with us. Whether it is your first time visiting Bethel, or you are a long-time client, we want you to feel like this is your home-away-from-home where you can release the stress of the day and let the tension melt away from your body and mind. Let us know if there is anything we can do for you to make your experience more comfortable. If you are coming in for a massage, always feel free to discuss any concerns you may have about your session with your therapist. Or if you are trying something new, like a facial or Reiki, and you would like to know more about it, ask us. We are happy to discuss with you how our sessions and products work and what you will experience. For newcomers to massage, some comon concerns are: Modesty: Some forms of massage such as shiatsu and chair massage are performed with the client fully clothed. A typical table massage is generally provided with the client at least partially unclothed to whatever degree is comfortable, while underneath a large sheet or towel. Draping with this large sheet ensures comfort and modesty throughout your session. The therapist will uncover and recover body areas as he or she provides massage. When receiving a full-hour table massage, for example, the therapist will usually work with your back, neck, shoulders, arms, hands, legs, feet, face and scalp. Before your session, your therapist will discuss with you any areas you would like to focus on during your massage, or any areas you would like to avoid, such as ticklish feet, or a recently injured wrist. Talking: Talking is entirely optional during your session. You may feel more at ease in silence, particularly during a massage for relaxation, or, if you prefer, feel free to chat with your therapist. Even during generally quiet sessions, be sure to let your therapist know if anything is causing you discomfort. Discomfort: Massage can sometimes cause discomfort, especially during deeper tissue work, or even pain depending on the reason for the massage, the technique being used, and your physical condition and tolerances. Be sure to discuss this with your therapist beforehand and provide feedback during the session so that your therapist can adjust the pressure, style, or technique.
Before your session, you and your therapist will discuss any health concerns you may have. Some examples of these health concerns may be: allergies (particularly skin allergies to oils or lotions), recent injuries or accidents, and pregnancy. It is recommended to avoid certain types of massage therapy altogether in cases of flu, fever, infection, or very recent surgery, in which case it is best to consult with your physician. Many of our therapists have received advanced training in orthopedic massage, medical massage, and energy healing modalities which can help address a variety of health concerns such as recovery from injuries and illnesses such as cancer. However, it is still best to consult with your physician first before scheduling a massage.
We offer many different types of massage, whether you are looking for a relaxing experience, to address muscle tension and soreness, or looking for more energy and balance. When making your appointment, discuss any particular styles or types of massage you may wish to experience so that we can help you schedule the most appropriate session for you. You should also discuss your preferences with your therapist once you arrive for your session. All Massage Therapists are state licensed and insured.
